If you are a teenager or an adult with malocclusion, the Invisalign system may be an option to correct your bite. Invisalign creates customized clear aligners that gently move your teeth over time. For people with a mild level of malocclusion (crookedness or misalignment,) It has been shown to be an effective form of orthodontic care.
How Invisalign Works
The Invisalign system is customized to your mouth. First, Dr. Tran takes 3-D images (we use the ITERO scanner, so you don’t have to sit through messy and uncomfortable impressions!)
You will get 22 or more of the aligners that you will wear over your upper and lower teeth. About every two weeks, you will switch to a new aligner. Over time, the aligners gently shift your teeth into the correct position in your jaws.
Using the Clear Aligners
You will wear the aligners for about 23 hours per day. The only times that you should remove the aligner are when you are eating or brushing or flossing your teeth. Because the aligners are removable, this allows you to continue eating healthy foods that get stuck in traditional braces. You can also clean the aligners to keep them fresh.
Benefits of Invisalign
With Invisalign, people will not even notice that you are having orthodontic treatment. You can have professional photos or senior pictures taken, and there will be no unsightly metal on your teeth. The aligners are smooth and will not cut or pinch your tongue or cheeks. The movement delivered by the aligners is gradual, unlike the sudden tightening that needs to be done with a set of traditional braces.
At All Smiles Dental, we offer a wide range of dental services including the Invisalign system.
